The Ted & Loretta Thranhardt Resource & Information Center holds the NUPOC special collection of frequently used resources about anatomy, surgery, and prosthetics and orthotics. The special collection was reorganized in 2011. The resource center holds several hundred seminal texts, professional journals, as well as 42 of the master’s theses and 23 of the doctoral dissertations of biomedical engineering students who conducted their graduate work at NUPOC. The resource center is frequently used for quiet study, research, interviews, meetings and small seminars.
The resource center was a generous gift of the Thranhardts in 1998; and in June 2000, Mr. Thranhardt was recognized at the formal dedication of the resource center. Inscribed on the brass plaque that accompanies this award are the words: “The Thranhardt Information Resources Center was brought about through a generous gift by Ted and Loretta Thranhardt, which challenged AAOP members to also contribute generously.” The inscription also recognizes H.E. (Ted) Thranhardt, CPO, “for his dedicated life of service to humanity, his distinguished career in prosthetics and orthotics, his life-long contributions to health care, and for his benevolence and continued commitment to education.”
Special collections are housed in the Ted and Loretta Resource and Information Center at NUPOC.
